In his book Futuretainment, digital expert Mike Walsh follows the consumer-led revolution in media and entertainment. In this collaboration Frost* designed the layout and graphics for the printed book as well as a multi-functional website to reflect the book’s forward thinking content. To bring the book to life online we animated the book’s graphics, as well as a video of the book being flipped through, taking advantage of the digital medium. Live feeds from Twitter and Flickr mentioning the book are fed into the site, as well as topical RSS feeds.

MySpace or yours?
MySpace or yours?

Project: Online Advertising

Frost were commissioned to create a series of online advertising for the varying functionalities of MySpace. To ensure the ads didn’t stray too far from the recognisable MySpace brand, the logo was transformed each time to communicate each message. Our work for MySpace includes the identity for Australia’s first re-loadable prepaid credit card, “Sign Up!” – designed to encourage new users to sign up and the launch of the photo-editing tool “MySpace Imagé”. This campaign was hugely successful resulting in a 20% increase in uploads to the site.

Project: 2009 Online Annual Report

From cabin crew and catering staff to the board of directors, the people are the focus of Qantas’ 2009 Annual Report. Frost art directed an honest “fly-on-the-wall” shoot that captured the spirit of Qantas. We translated the report to an interactive microsite that included extra details such as a full screen image gallery, flash network map and passenger journey sections. Making the information available online allowed Qantas to reach a wider audience and dramatically reduced the number of printed copies.

Project: Flash game design and mini-site, identity design and art direction

Frost’s “Slip it on” campaign for the Aids Council of NSW (ACON) takes inspiration from 1960s pop art. The design references safe-sex programs using Australian-grown waxed-tipped bananas to show how condoms are put on. We developed an interactive space invaders style game to get the safe sex message across in a playful way. Points are won by catching condoms with a moving banana before you catch a mouth, a bum or an STD. Catch a bum without a condom and it’s game over.
